| The Costa Blanca area of Alicante Province yesterday became as white as its name after considerable snowfall in the area, which was seen in Denia, Javea, Teulada/Moraira, Benissa, Calpe and Altea.
However, despite the blizzard, the snow did not settle in any of the towns, only covering Javea's Mount Montgo on one side, whilst Benissa's Sierra de Bernia was as white as the Alps.
Police have advised everyone not to leave their homes today unless it is absolutely necessary due to the hazardous conditions on the roads that left several areas and villages cut off and without electricity.
Such towns as Castell de Castells and the areas of the Vall de Laguart and the Vall de la Gallinera registered 30 cms of snow yesterday and remained virtually incommunicado. |
