After the tragedy of last December 31 when two people died from gas inhalation in the Castellon town of Cortes de Arenoso, and the other similar tragedy that cost the lives of eighteen people in Todolella in 2005, yesterday the Castellon town of Benicarlo was the scene of yet another tragedy of this sort, involving the cold weather and heating devices.

In yesterday's tragedy, a 37 year old Czech man and his 47 year old German wife as well as their dog were discovered dead inside their home in the Mas del Rei area of Benicarlo. All indications are that they died from toxic gases emitted by a faulty gas-burning stove (estufa de gas), and the forensics department of the Guardia Civil is trying to determine the exact causes of the deaths. It is reported that the couple had only recently moved into their home, and neighbours raised the alarm after not seeing them around for a few days.
