| Torrential rain yesterday forced the cancellation of Holy Week parades in almost all of Andalucía's major towns and cities, including all four provincial capitals.
In Sevilla, only the San Esteban and La Cancelaria brotherhoods braved the storm while the El Cerro brotherhood started out, but were forced to turn back. Meanwhile, there were emotional scenes when the Los Javieres, Los Estudiantes and San Benito brotherhoods announced that they would not be taking to the streets.
In Córdoba, intermittent showers forced the cancellation of two parades -La Agonía and La Santa Faz- although the La Sangre and El Prendimiento brotherhoods managed to dodge the showers.
A heavy downpour in Málaga forced two brotherhoods to cancel their parades -Jesús Nazareno del Perdón and María Santísima de Nueva Esperanza- although a break in the weather allowed six other brotherhoods to proceed as normal, albeit slightly later than planned.
There was more disruption in Granada, however, where only one out of the four brotherhoods -El Cristo- took to the streets, although they were soon forced to shelter in the cathedral after the skies opened. |
