| An early 17th century church in Javalí Nuevo is to be given a facelift, says Murcia’s mayor, Miguel Ángel Cámara.
Cámara pledged to restore the Iglesia de la Purísima during his electoral campaign in response to resident’s pleas. The church is a symbolic part of Javalí Nuevo’s heritage.
The oldest building in the rural district, its reformation will be funded by various bodies including high street banks Cajamurcia and CAM, the diocese of Cartagena, the regional government and Alcantarilla town council.
It will cost in region of 614,000 euros, of which Javalí Nuevo’s local authority will provide 150,000.
The project will concentrate on the roofs, which are currently in a poor state, and various significant architectural features. |
