| The 18 month old baby girl who was shot by her father last Tuesday died during the early hours of yesterday morning at the 12 de Octubre Hospital in Madrid.
She was shot in the neck last Tuesday afternoon in a public park in Torrejón de Ardoz during a discussion between her estranged parents.
It seems that a banning order had been issued against the man, but that it was frequently breached by both parties.
It also seems that the man shot his daughter then took his own life by shooting himself through the head after being told that there was no chance of a reconciliation.

A 32 year old man originally from the Dominican Republic but with Spanish nationality, shot his 18 month old baby daughter in the head yesterday evening in a public park in Torrejón de Ardoz (Madrid) then committed suicide by shooting himself through the skull. The incident occurred at around 5.30pm in the Parque Ocio (photo) in front of the baby's mother.
The woman was intercepted by a Local Police patrol as she was rushing with her injured daughter in her arms to the nearest health centre. She told the officers that she had heard a second shot as she was leaving the scene.
Emergency services were called and paramedics tried unsuccessfully for half an hour to revive the man, who was found with bullet entrance and exit wounds to the parietal bone.
The baby girl was transferred from a health centre on the calle Turín in Torrejón where she was initially taken, to the 12 de Octubre Hospital in Madrid, where her condition is reported to be very grave.
A police spokesman explained that, according to their records, the man had no previous domestic violence convictions against his name. |
