| According to a report on TV3 news, the regional government of Cataluņa is planning to extend the smoking ban to include small bars and cafeterias that sell food; including tapas and bocadillos.
Following the introduction of the Anti-tobacco Law at the start of last year, only around 20% of owners of bars and cafeterias with a total surface area of less than 100 square metres, have imposed the voluntary smoking ban.
The regional government reportedly plans to approve the new legislation before the start of next summer.
Statistics show that, during the first twelve months following the imposition of the new anti-smoking laws in Spain, acute myocardial infarctions fell by 11.5%. |
