A Rumanian couple was arrested in Cariñena (Zaragoza) last Monday for allegedly trying to sell their three month old baby daughter.

Two other men - a Rumanian and a Spaniard - were also arrested for acting as intermediaries.

The baby was found during the early hours of yesterday morning in the care of the detained Spanish man who claimed to be looking after her to make sure that she was not sold, but who is accused of being the one to have adopted her illegally.

The baby is now being looked after by the regional social services department.
