| Seven year old Gianni Cooper, who fell from a fifth floor balcony at the Samoa Hotel near Manacor on the 22nd October, has returned to the UK at the request of her father, Mr Ian Cooper.
Gianni is now conscious and breathing without assistance, but is still in a critical condition according to her doctors at the Son Dureta Hospital in Palma. Gianni's mother, Sara (main photo), who disappeared immediately after her daughter's fall, was found dead in an underwater cave close to Es Domingos beach two days later.
The autopsy confirmed that Mrs Cooper drowned, and it is believed that she committed suicide.
Sara Cooper autopsy suggests suicide By: thinkSPAIN Thursday, October 25, 2007
The autopsy performed today on Sara Cooper, whose dead body was found inside a cave near to Es Domingos Gran beach in Manacor at 4.45pm yesterday afternoon, confirms that she drowned.
Investigators now believe that she threw herself into the sea soon after her 7 year old daughter, Gianni, fell from the balcony of the fifth floor room at the Samoa Hotel that she had been sharing with her mother at around 7am last Monday morning.
Gianni survived the fall and is in an induced coma at the Son Dureta Hospital in Palma where her condition is described as critical but stable. If she regains consciousness, her account of the events leading up to her fall will be crucial in clarifying the circumstances leading to her mother's strange disappearance and apparent subsequent suicide.
