| Aspiring young violinist and composer, Patricia Argüelles, will spend the next week inside a transparent glass bubble set up next to the Puerta de Alcalá in Madrid's Plaza de la Independencia.
Apart from when she is in the bathroom, Ms Argüelles will be on full view to the public, with whom she will be able to communicate via internet on four computer terminals set up outside the bubble.
Ms Argüelles said that she hopes that passers-by will help inspire her as she composes a new work that she plans to perform when she is released next Tuesday, 13th November.
A spokesman for event organisers, Bago.es, explained that this is the first time anything like this has been attempted, and that the stunt's aim is to demonstrate that, since the emergence of internet, actual physical contact is now no longer necessary to keep in touch with one's friends or family.
The glass bubble is not equipped with a telephone, and Ms Argüelles's mobile has been confiscated. |
