| Only one of the drivers of two goods trains which collided outside Alcalá de Henares station last night was slightly injured. The accident occurred at 0.39am next to the Doctora Alcalá Infants and Junior School, which will remain closed today as a precautionary measure after it was confirmed that two of the six wagons that were derailed contained inflammable liquids.
An apartment block roughly 80 metres from the crash site was not evacuated after firemen confirmed that neither of the two wagons had leaked.
The cause of the accident is being investigated, and a Renfe spokesman predicted last night that it would take around 12 hours to clear the wreckage from the track after which services between Alcalá de Henares and Guadalajara will resume, hopefully by lunchtime today. |
