| A 12 year old boy was seriously injured at the weekend when he picked up an unexploded firework from a municipal firework display, which then went off in his hands.
The incident occurred at around 2.30pm last Saturday in Bayárcal (Almería).
The boy, who suffered serious damage to his left hand and burns to his face and neck, was initially taken to a health centre in Andarax, but was later transferred to El Poniente Hospital in El Ejido, where surgeons have since amputated three fingers from his left hand.
His parents have denounced the incident to the Guardia Civil and an investigation has been launched to ascertain responsibility. |
