Nine young ramblers - aged between 19-25 - from Madrid who got lost yesterday afternoon on the way from El Espinar to Roblecasa in mountains to the north of Guadalajara province, were found safe and well at 8.30pm last night by Guardia Civil rescuers.

The alarm was raised when a girlfriend of one of the missing youngsters phoned emergency services at 5.50pm yesterday afternoon to report the incident.

The Guardia Civil were informed and managed to contact the ramblers by mobile to pass on basic survival tips, to urge them to stay together and to get them to clarify the route they had been planning to take.

After they were found, the youths were taken back to the village of El Espinar.
