| A man who threw three kittens from a moving car has been fined to pay fines of 12 euros every day for the next month by a judge at Colmenar Viejo court.
The incident occurred on the Carretera de Hoyo de Manzanares on the 4th June 2006 and was reported to the police by the El Refugio animal welfare organisation, basing their allegations on the eye-witness statements of a couple travelling in the car behind.
It emerged during the trial that, after finding the three kittens on his nearby farm, the man then bundled them into his car and threw them out of the passenger-side window as he was driving along.
Only one - Nico (photo) - is known to have survived, and has since been adopted. A second was killed instantly after the driver swerved to run it over while the third landed in a ditch and was never found. |
