| The notorious bank robber, Jaime Jiménez Arbe, better known as 'The Loner', is being transferred to Zuera jail in Zaragoza today, two days ahead of his appearance at Tudela court in Navarra next Thursday, when he will be questioned about his part in the murders of two Guardia Civil officers in Castejón in June 2004.
Arbe (52), was arrested by Portuguese police in Figueira da Foz on the 23rd July last year since when he has been held at the Monsanto high security facility outside Lisbon.
Portuguese prison authorities deny allegations made by Arbe in a letter written to the EFE news agency in which Arbe describes the jail as the "Portuguese Guantanamo," and alleges that prisoners' human rights are not respected.
The prisoner will remain at Zuera jail for two months after which he will be handed back to the Portuguese. |
