Feliciano López has been called up as a last-minute replacement for David Ferrer, who has been forced to pull out of next weekend's Davis Cup qualifier against Peru with a recurrence of an Achilles injury that first emerged during the Australian Open.
The injury has worsened to such an extent that the player has been told to rest for a week and has been put on a course of anti-inflamatories.
The team captained by Emilio Sánchez Vicario is already in Lima for the first ever Davis Cup meeting between the two countries, which starts next Friday.
Last week, Rafael Nadal and Juan Carlos Ferrero pulled out of the clay-court competition to continue their own personal hard-court season preparations.
Nadal withdraws from Davis Cup team

Rafael Nadal has declared himself unavailable for Spain's first Davis Cup tie of the season - against Peru on the clay courts of the Jockey Club in Lima, starting on the 8th February - on the grounds that he wants to continue his personal hard court preparations.
Juan Carlos Ferrero has withdrawn for the same reason.
As a result, Nicolás Almagro has been called up for the first time with Tommy Robredo, Fernando Verdasco and David Ferrer completing the line-up.
