| Regional Agriculture and Livestock authorities have officially confirmed the existence of two new cases of 'mad cow' disease on two farms in Castilla León.
They were detected on farms near the villages of Herreros de Suso (pop. 188) to the north of Ávila province, and Tapioles (pop. 233) near Villafáfila to the north of Zamora province.
Including these two, there have been 184 confirmed cases in the Castilla León region (45 in Zamora, 39 in León and 21 in Salamanca) and 721 in the whole of Spain since the start of this century.
These are the first confirmed cases in the region this year, after the total dropped to twelve during 2006. |
