| The Cervantes Institute, which promotes the Spanish language and culture, has become the first European institution of its type to launch its own television channel.
Cervantes TV, which can be viewed on-line at www.cervantestv.es, will offer cultural news bulletins, Spanish language courses, interviews, debates, reports, music and documentaries about Spanish and Latin American cultural events.
Director Carmen Caffarel confirmed during her address that an on-line radio channel is also planned.
