| Spanish company Ferrovial has secured three contracts in the UK worth £750 million (about €1,000 million euros) through its Amey service subsidiary.
To be precise, Amey has been granted a five-year cleaning and maintenance contract by the Home and Justice ministries as well as highway conservation and maintenance contracts for Hampshire and Hertfordshire.
Amey, which is one of the UK's leading integrated support service providers, was acquired by Ferrovial in 2003.
Ferrovial began life in 1952 as a construction company. It is now a diversified group, with four operating units: Construction, Services, Toll Roads and Car Parking and Airports. In June 2006, a consortium led by Ferrovial bought BAA, the world's largest owner and operator, thereby becoming the world's leading private sector infrastructure operator.
Ferrovial is the largest construction group in Spain, the second biggest in Europe by market capitalisation, and is quoted on the Madrid stock exchange. Its turnover in 2006 was €12.34 billion (taking into account BAA acquisition and new accounting treatment), delivering a €1.426 billion profit. |
