According to Employment ministry statistics, 1,191 employees died in work-related accidents last year, 10.9% fewer than in 2006.
Of these, 844 (-12.6%) died at their actual place of work while 357 died on their way to or from work.
By sector, 362 worked in services, 292 in construction and 195 in industry.
By region, Andalucía led the way with 195 deaths, followed by Madrid (152) and Cataluña (147).
