| Murcia judge Fernando Ferrín Calamita has been suspended from duty by the General Judiciary Council for preventing a lesbian woman from adopting her partner's daughter.
The council voted by three votes to two to suspend Calamita, who may also be fined €600 euros for "negative remarks about the homosexual condition" made during a case in which he awarded custody of a couple's two children to the father because his wife had admitted to a lesbian affair.
This is the first time the council has suspended a judge as a result of a private prosecution. |
