| Twenty Islamic terror suspects were sentenced to serve between five to fourteen years in jail today at the High Court in Madrid. Ten others were absolved.
Eighteen were found guilty of belonging to a terrorist organisation while the other two were convicted of the lesser charge of collaborating with terrorists.
The trial was the culmination of the 'Operación Nova' investigation into a possible lorry-bomb attack on the High Court itself, though in the end, there was unsufficient evidence to secure any convictions on this charge.
Notwithstanding, the investigation did uncover nests of Islamic terrorists inside the Spanish jail system, who communicate with each other by post. |
