| According to a report in today's El País, fourteen homeless people were struck down with food poisoning after eating a "toxic" chick pea stew at the Mayorales indigent shelter in Madrid's Casa de Campo district last Saturday evening.
One of the affected, a heavily pregnant young woman (24), was admitted to the Fundación Jiménez Díaz Hospital suffering from diarrhoea, vomiting, head and stomach ache though she was discharged again a few hours later.
One of the emergency medics called to the hostel during the early hours of Sunday morning admitted that: "the chick peas smelt terrible, like they were rotting." |
