A South American man who fell down a 15 metre deep well in Alcùdia (Palma de Mallorca) at around midnight last night was pulled to safety at around 9am this morning after builders working on an adjacent plot heard his cries for help when they turned up for work this morning at around 7.45am.

It seems that the man "may have had one or two drinks too many" last night, and may have stumbled into the well, which is located on the plot of an abandoned house on the calle Serra.

It also seems that, desperate to relieve himself and unable to wait until he got home, he entered the property through a hole in the fence.

The man was taken to the Inca Hospital, where he is reported to be out of danger, conscious and alert.
