| A 62 year old woman critically injured in a fire at her flat in Aranda de Duero during the early hours of last Saturday morning, died yesterday at La Paz Hospital in Madrid.
The woman suffered smoke inhalation and burns to 90% of her body, but incredibly managed to walk barefooted to Los Santos Reyes Hospital nearby.
Her 73 year old boyfriend sustained minor burns to both of his arms for which he was treated at General Yagüe Hospital in Burgos.
He was later arrested after evidence linking him to the attack was found at the scene, and after fellow residents came forward to report a violent argument at the sixth-floor flat of a residential building on the Avenida Murillo, shortly before the fire started at around 3am.
Neighbours also said that the couple used to row frequently.
A demonstration against domestic violence will be held at noon today on the steps of Aranda Town Hall. |
