Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia of Asturias interrupted a visit to the Alimentaria food fair they inaugurated in Barcelona yesterday to respect a five-minute's silence for Isaias Carrasco, who was shot to death by an ETA assassin last Friday.

Similar tributes were held across Spain as the country united in support of the former socialist councillor's grieving family.

The prince and princess were joined outside the exhibition centre by Agriculture and Industry ministers, Elena Espinosa (photo, right) and Joan Clos (left) respectively, as well as a number of regional government respresentatives and award-winning chef Ferran Adriá (second left).
