| Juan González, a 43 year old diabetes sufferer from Ventorros de San José (Granada), who went blind seventeen years ago and who does not have a driving licence, was sent a €450 euro fine by mistake by the provincial traffic department.
It seems that the error was due to a mistake made when taking note of the real perpetrator's DNI national identity number.
A traffic department spokesman explained that the fact that Mr González had a licence before losing his sight had contributed to the confusion.
The mistake came to light when Mr González presented himself at his local police station to demand that the matter be resolved.
The real perpetrator, who tested over the limit at two checkpoints set up between the towns of Motril and Armilla, has now been tracked down. As well as the fine, four points have been added to his licence, which has been confiscated for a month. |
