Barça fail to capitalise on Real defeat

Barcelona's inconsistent league form continued yesterday as they were held to a 2-2 draw away to Almería after twice taking the lead.

Bojan opened the scoring at the Meditarranean stadium for the visitors with his fifth goal of the season in the 18th minute when he reacted first after Iniesta's initial shot had been parried.

However, Almería were back on level terms a quarter of an hour later when former Real Madrid man Pulido rose unmarked at the far post to convert a corner.

Samuel Eto'o was the beneficiary of some fine build-up play by substitute Thierry Henry as Barcelona re-took the lead in the 57th minute, but they were forced to re-organise at the back after Diego Milito (photo) was dismissed for a second yellow card fifteen minutes from time and conceded an agonisingly late equaliser when substitute Kala Uche rose to head home a corner in a carbon-copy of Almería's first goal.

The result leaves Spain's sole Champions League survivors still seven points behind Real Madrid and now just two points clear of Villarreal, who beat Real Zaragoza 2-0 at home.

For their part, Atletico Madrid regained fourth place with a 3-0 victory against bottom-of-the-table Levante that was secured with a brace either side of the interval from Diego Forlán after Simao's 24th minute opener.
