| Further details have come to light concerning the explosives found near a reservoir in Ciudad Real province last Wednesday.
A spokesman for the Spanish Interior ministry confirmed yesterday that 10kg ammonal and 1.5kg chloratite were found in two plastic lunch boxes embossed on the outside with ETA's logo. The boxes, which were inside a green plastic bag, also contained loose detonating cord, batteries, timers and detonators.
A Rumanian man resident in Sonseca (Toledo) reported the find at around 4pm last Wednesday afternoon after stopping off for a comfort break and to admire the panoramic views as he was driving along the CM-403 (km 43).
The explosives were found partially buried on a wooded hillside near the Torre de Abraham reservoir that lies between the towns of Piedrabuena and Retuerta close to Cabañeros natural park.
TEDAX bomb squad experts believe that the explosives had been intended for use in a frustrated attack, most probably during the summer of 2005 prior to ETA's most recent ceasefire.
In December 2005 some children made a similar find close to the nearby town of Villarubia de los Ojos. |
