One in five Spanish hotels now take pets
10/04/2008
Spain remains at the bottom of the European table when it comes to hotels accepting pets, according to the Travelling With Pets Guide recently published by the Affinity Foundation - only 2,522 of the country's more than 1,000 hotels accept pets.
Notwithstanding, this is a massive 130% improvement on 2001, when the organisation published its first guide, when only 1,938 Spanish hotels allowed animals.
The rapid growth reflects a clear latent trend in a country where 27% of homes include dogs, and 13%, cats.
However, Spain still trails significantly behind neighbouring Andorra, where 50% of the nation's 259 hotels cater for quadrupeds.
