A 45 year old merchant ship inspector died yesterday morning shortly after inhaling gases emanating from a cargo hold on a soya transport ship - the 'Kyla', which flies under a Liberian flag - moored in Bilbao port.

There are two cargo holds on the ship and it appears that the inspector mistakenly entered the one which had not been ventilated.

An autopsy will confirm cause of death though it is possible that the victim may have died of a heart attack.
