| A total of 16 people lost their lives in traffic accidents last weekend, five fewer than last year, and almost half as many as the corresponding weekend in 2006.
As well as seven bikers, the death toll also included one moped rider and a quad biker.
Ten died on Sunday, four on Saturday and two on Friday.
Little congestion was reported except on the outskirts of Madrid with frustrating tailbacks for capital dwellers returning from excursions to Burgos (A-1), Valencia (A-3), Extremadura (A-5) and Barcelona (AP-7). |
