| The Meteogalicia local weather information service is not expecting any further tornadoes like the one which caused substantial damage to a campsite on Cabío beach, near A Pobra do Caramiñal (A Coruña) at around 9pm yesterday evening.
Weather exerts say that the phenomenon was caused by an abrupt change from clear skies and high temperatures to rain with quite warm moist surface air mixing with a lot of cold air from higher altitudes.
In Galicia, these conditions usually lead to storms, which would be more common at this time of year owing to a lack of high surface temperatures, the same experts went on to explain. |
