Police investigating the murder of a 19 year old woman whose body was found floating in an irrigation basin near Pilar de la Horadada (86km from Alicante) last Monday, are anxious to track down one of her former lovers - a 30 year old Ecuadorian man, who has been employed by a company near to where the body was discovered since 2005.

The girl, who was found with her hands and feet tied together, lived in Pilar de la Horadada with her grandmother and her aunts.

Investigators have already searched her former boyfriend's home address - a flat he shared with two others.

Given that the irrigation basin where the victim's body was found is surrounded by a 1.8m-high metal fence, investigators are not ruling out the possibility that the murderer may have received help from at least one accomplice.

The owner of a farm in Pilar de la Horadada found the badly decomposed body of a woman - whose hands had been tied behind her back - inside an irrigation basin located roughly halfway along a country path that runs from the town centre to the Pinar de Campoverde residential estate.

Owing to the recent scant rainfall, at one metre deep, the water level in the basin was much lower than normal at this time of year.

The body was recovered in a combined operation involving Local and Regional Police, the Guardia Civil and a team of fire-fighters from Torrevieja.
