| Between 500 (according to police) and 3,000 (according to organisers) angry dairy farmers staged a violent demonstration at the Leche Río milk processing plant on the O Ceao industrial estate outside Lugo in protest at falling milk prices.
A burning tyre was dragged into the middle of the road outside the factory to block traffic in and out and the protesters tore down the metallic perimeter fence.
Inside, they destroyed a large quantity of milk cartons and threw a quantity of eggs and other missiles at an office building, shattering several windows. |
