| After 54 straight defeats since turning professional in May 2005, Britain's Robert Dee (21) has finally won a match. He did it during the pre-qualifying phase of the Reus Futures last Saturday, when he beat America's Arzhang Derakhshani 6-4, 6-3, though he was beaten 3-6, 1-6, in the next round by Poland's Artur Romanowski.
Dee's was the worst ever start to a professional career since Diego Beltranena lost the same number of games between 1997-2005, although the Guatemalan at least managed to win one set along the way.
Dee, who was born in Kent, turned professional aged 19 and has taken part in tournaments in Colombia, Sudan, Senegal and Norway, but mainly focuses on the Spanish domestic circuit. |
