The Guardia Civil are investigating the death of a 21 month old girl whose body was found in an irrigation channel on the Alermimar residential estate last Saturday.

The girl's mother, who found the body and reported the incident, said that her daughter had gone missing while she and the girl's father had been distracted.

The couple, who are originally from Morocco, live in a rural property near El Ejido (Almería).
