| A young couple who saw a light airplane crash just metres away from the M-40 in Madrid at around 11am this morning have said that the pilot was obviously struggling to control the plane "which was doing strange things" just before it plunged to earth.
Criterio and Mercedes, who watched the accident from the recently-inaugurated Isla Azul commercial centre, which is around 700 metres from the crash site, said that the pilot seemed to be battling to avoid landing on the motorway.
The two people on board the Cessna 310, which crashed on wasteground near the Vía Lusitania roundabout, have been identified as two men in their thrities - a flying instructor and his pupil. Both were declared dead at the scene. |
