| Three bombs damaged local and central Employment ministry installations in Vizcaya and Guipúzcoa provinces last night, two of which have been claimed by ETA.
A warning call was made to the DYA traffic information helpline for Vizcaya at 11.35pm to advise that two bombs would go off at the headquarters of the regional health and safety department in San Sebastián at 0.30am though no mention was made of a large device that exploded at an Employment ministry installation in Arrigorriaga at around midnight.
As a result of the warning, police evacuated and cordoned off the calle Maldatxo in the Egia district of San Sebastián, where two small explosions caused insignificant material damage and nobody was injured.
The earlier explosion, however, opened up a 20 metre hole in the front of the main office building (photo), and damaged several cars parked inside the industrial facility.
The bombings coincide not only with today's International Worker Day celebrations but also the arrest and subsequent encarceration yesterday of Inocencia Galparsoro, the lady mayoress of Arrasate (ANV), who has been charged with collaborating with ETA. |
