| Luís Aragonés has not included Real Madrid captain Raúl in the squad for this summer's Euro 2008 finals.
After the withdrawal owing to fatigue of Barcelona starlet Bojan, Zaragoza's Sergio García has been selected as the fourth striker.
At the back, Betis central defender Juanito has been called up to replace Pablo (Atletico Madrid), though perhaps the biggest surprise is the replacement of Espanyol wide-man Riera with Santi Cazorla from Villarreal.
From troubled Valencia, Joaquín and Morientes have missed out as have the three exiled former internationals, David Abelda, Miguel Angulo and Santiago Cañizares, whose place has been taken by Sevilla stopper, Andres Palop.
The squad will meet up on May 26th at the Las Rozas sports complex in Madrid ahead of pre-tournament friendlies against Peru (May 31st, Huelva) and USA (June 4th, Santander).
In the first phase of the competition, Spain face on Russia (June 10th, Innsbruck), Sweden (June 14th, Innsbruck) and Greece (June 18th, Salzburg).

Hope for Raúl as Bojan asks not to be included in Euro squad? By: thinkSPAIN Thursday, May 15, 2008
After one of his best domestic seasons ever (18 league goals), Real Madrid captain Raúl was thrown a Euro 2008 lifeline yesterday when Barcelona's 17 year old progidy Bojan Krkic contacted Spain coach Luis Aragonés to ask not to be included in the squad, citing personal reasons. Bojan was called up to make his international debut against France in Málaga on February 6th, but was ultimately unable to take the field after going down with stomach-ache.
Hotly tipped to replace him in the squad that will now be announced next Saturday, however, is Real Zaragoza striker Sergio García (7 goals), who would be winning his first cap, though Raúl Tamudo (Espanyol, 11) and former Liverpool striker, Luis García, (Atletico Madrid, 5) are also thought to be in the running to join the squad as fourth striker behind Fernando Torres, David Villa (Valencia, 13), and Liga top scorer Daniel Guiza (Mallorca, 25). |
