| A 41 year old man with a number of previous convictions for robbery and robbery with violence, has been arrested for trying to mug an elderly lady in Bilbao city centre yesterday lunchtime. The victim resisted strongly and managed to prevent her attacker from making off with her handbag and gold necklace, but banged her head after being pushed to the ground.
The sound of the struggle alerted a passer-by, who raised the alarm at which the mugger decided to cut his losses and ran off. He was soon detained in the nearby Alameda de Mazzarredo, however - albeit after a brief, violent struggle - and has since been charged with attempted robbery with violence, civil disobedience, resisting arrest and threatening to kill the arresting officers. |
