| At an emotional press conference in Málaga yesterday, María Victoria Campos, the widow of ETA's latest victim, Juan Manuel Piñuel Villalón, read out a prepared statement in which she described her husband's killers as "despicable murderers," and told them, "You're nothing, just rubbish, a black stain on the purity of a great nation."
Ms Campos also thanked the Basque people, who, she said, had supported her with "all their strength, dignity and greatness," and asked the press, for the sake of her young son, to leave her and her family to grieve in peace.
Her husband was cremated in Málaga on Thursday evening after an emotional funereal mass attended by more than five hundred mourners.
Of the four other people injured in the devastating car bomb attack on a Guardia Civil barracks building in Legutiano last Wednesday morning, three remain in hospital.
The most seriously injured, a 35 year old man, is now out of intensive care and under observation on a normal surgical ward at Txagorritxu Hospital.
A 41 year old man, who underwent surgery to stabilise a fractured vertebrae, is also out of intensive care and recovering satisfactorily on the Traumatology ward at Santiago Hospital.
A 34 year old woman is being treated at the same hospital for a twisted knee while the fourth, who was discharged from hospital last Wednesday, is recovering at home.
