| David Crespo Álvarez, a 32 year old man employed by the Elecnor company died at 9.30am yesterday of an electrical shock as he was working on a solar power farm owned by the Argasol company near Navacerrada, a small village within the municipal boundary of Almodóvar del Campo (Ciudad Real).
Fulgencio Ruiz, who is the general secretary of the Puertollano branch of the CCOO trade union, explained that Mr Crespo had been working with two other men erecting a metal fence between two 420V transformers.
"It is beyond explanation that these men should have been working so close to the transformers without them being shut down," he said, adding that while the main burden of blame must fall on Elecnor for failing to provide a safe environment for its employees, "civil and penal responsibility also extends to Argasol." |
