| Eighties pop icon Alaska, has agreed to pose naked to support an anti-bullfighting campaign organised by the Animanaturalis association.
The poster campaign, which depicts the Fangoria singer bleeding and injured by 'banderilla' darts protruding from her back, will go on display from next Monday to coincide with the climax of the San Isidro bullfighting festival in Madrid.
"I don't think bullfighting is at all good, so I had to do something. And my way of doing things is to not keep quiet and say what I think to anyone that may want to listen. We have no right to harm anyone, be it a child, a dog or a bull," said the star in a press statement.
Since the city of Barcelona declared itself against bullfighting in April 2004, dozens of other towns across the country have followed suit.
The most recent Gallup public opinion poll (2006) reveals that 82% of 15-24 year old Spaniards have absolutely no interest whatsoever in the national fiesta. |
