| Four members of the EUFOR European Union peacekeeping force in Bosnia were killed yesterday in a helicopter crash near Travnik in the Banja Luka region.
The two Spanish pilots have been identified as Santiago Hormigo Ledesma and Joaquín López Moreno, a lieutenant and a sergeant attached to the 1st Helicopter Batallion based in Almagro (Ciudad Real). Both men were in their early thirties and married.
They were transporting two German officers, who also died.
The four men were travelling in a BO-105 helicopter like the one shown.
A team of crash experts has been sent to investigate the reasons for the accident, a spokesman from the Spanish Defence ministry confirmed yesterday.
Five days ago, Jasón Ospina Vélez, a Spanish corporal on active duty in Lebanon, lost his life in a traffic accident, that seems to have been caused by driver error. |
