| A 38 year old man died this morning at the Monsacro pit in Asturias. Benjamín Pasarón Fernández, a married man from Santa Eulalia de Morcín, had worked at the mine for the last 18 years.
The cause of the accident, which happened at level 8ª-1, approximately 580 metres below ground level, has not yet been confirmed.
This is the first fatal accident at a mine in Asturias since October 17th last year, when a man died after inhaling toxic gas at the Candín pit, which also belongs to Hunosa - Spain's leading mining firm with a total workforce of around 3,000. |
