| Unemployment rose by 36,849 (+1.5%) last month to 2,390.424 (9.9% of the working population) - the first time since records began in 1996 that this should happen during the month of June.
It is also the third consecutive month of rising unemployment since a brief respite coinciding with Holy Week in March.
Since June last year, unemployment has risen 21.6% (+424,555).
All sectors of the economy were affected last month, though the construction industry continues to lead the way (+21,800/ +6%), followed by services (+4,555/ +0.3%), agriculture (+3,338/ +4.3%), manufacturing (+1,984/ +0.6%) and the previously unemployed (+5,892/ +2.5%).
Unemployment rose in ten regions led by Andalucía (+18,930) and the Valencian Community (+7,222) though the opposite was true in seven others, notably: Galicia (-4,071), Castilla León (-2,428) and Asturias (-1,819). |
