| At his unveiling at the Nou Camp yesterday evening, Alexander Hleb described the move as "a dream come true. I want to do my best for this club. I hope that Henry will help me adapt to the city and the club."
Barça's technical secretary, Txiki Begiristain, described the former Arsenal midfielder as "a typical Barça player - loads of technique, intelligent with good movement. He's a quality reinforcement and will generate a lot of confidence."
For his part, new coach Pep Guardiola was more generous: "he's a very good player and creates a lot of good football. He's multi-talented, and offers an extraordinary array of tactical solutions. He can play inside, out on the wing, or as a false 'number nine'. This player fits in perfectly and will surprise a lot of people at the Nou Camp. He's very direct, and good with both feet," he said.
Hleb confirmed as Barça's fifth summer signing By: thinkSPAIN Wednesday, July 9, 2008
Arsenal midfielder Alexander Hleb is being touted as Pep Guardiola's fifth big summer signing after Barcelona allegedly agreed to pay the north Londoners fifteen million euros, with the possibility of a further three million depending on future results.
The 27 year old Belarrussian made his name during his five seasons at German club Stuttgart before joining Arsenal three years ago.
Last season, the right-footed attacking midfielder, who can also play out on the wing, was a regular starter for Arsène Wenger, but netted just four times.
Since taking over from Frank Rijkaard at the end of last season, Pep Guardiola has also secured the services of Martín Cáceres, Gerard Piqué, Dani Alves and Seydou Keita, and sold Deco to Chelsea.
However, there has been no progress in offloading former Nou Camp favourites, Samuel Eto'o nor Ronaldinho. |
