| A married couple from Peñalsordo (Badajoz) were killed this morning by a lightning strike in an olive grove in nearby Zarza Capilla.
Francisco Paz Rodríguez (35) and Herminia Díaz García (36) were struck between 9.30-10am as they were clearing new buds from the bottoms of the trees on the 'Pogasil' farm as part of normal pre-harvest preparations.
They leave behind two young children.
According to a Town Hall spokesman, the storm, which started at around 8.30am, did not affect the town itself, but several loud claps of thunder were heard from the area where the couple had been working. |
