Two men armed with handguns stole €40,000 euros in an attack on a McDonalds restaurant in Alfas del Pi (Alicante) during the early hours of yesterday morning.

The attack occurred shortly before 2am as staff were getting ready to close up for the night.

Nobody was injured as the two men fled as soon as the cash, which represented several days' takings, was handed over.

They made their escape in a car driven by the third member of the gang.

According to eye-witnesses, the two men who carried out the raid, seemed to be Spanish.
