A 60 year old woman from Villena died this morning as she was being transported to the Valencian Institute of Oncology.

Four other people were injured, including the 22 year old driver, when the ambulance they were travelling in overturned on the A-7 freeway near Alzira at around 8.10am.

It seems that the ambulance flipped over after the driver veered off the main carriageway, and no other vehicles were involved.

The two most seriously injured - the 64 year old husband of the dead woman, who suffered severe head injuries, and a 60 year old woman from Monovar, who sustained a broken elbow and ankle - were taken to Alzira's La Ribera Hospital.

The other two, who were much less seriously hurt, were taken to Xátiva Hospital.

A fifth man escaped unhurt.
